I needed a place to throw all of my wedding ideas so it’s a little more cohesive so I decided to start a blog.  I’ll be adding information about my inspiration and my DIY wedding projects so I can keep track of everything that is going on and share it with my family/friends and any other brides looking for ideas.

My wedding date is in  July 2011 so I have a few months to get inspiration, try out some DIY projects, and purchase the things that don’t quite work out with my DIY projects.

I’m a budget-minded bride and am trying to spend as little as possible while still having an awesome wedding.  My budget is way under the average $20,000 and is closer to $5,000 although I am shooting for spending no more than $3,000 out of our pockets.  This will be made possible by my awesome family members and friends that are helping me out (I’m really going to owe them all BIG TIME when this is over!) and by doing a lot of things myself instead of hiring someone or buying it outright.

My goal is to not purchase anything new that will not be used again or that isn’t hella discounted (I’m talking 50% off or more!), reuse/borrow items that myself or family and friends already have, and to purchase second hand items from garage sales or thrift stores.  The main reason for this is to save money but it’s also very important to me to not give in to the consumerism that is the wedding industry.  I try to live my life by being “green” and eco-friendly and buying everything for the wedding brand new and tossing it away the next day is the least eco-friendly thing you could do.  I love reusing and re-purposing items and am going to try to do this as much as possible for our wedding.

Hey there! So excited to hear from you and to find that you’re not only a July 2011 bride-to-be as well, but also going the DIY route! What’s your date?

I believe I found the photo with the yellow flowers on http://ruffledblog.com/, one of the many wedding blogs I’m reading these days. (It’s hard to keep track of them all!) I thought that was such a cute and simple idea. Unfortunately it doesn’t say what they’re made of or where they came from–my guess is they are made of paper or silk or something of the sort.

Anyway, can’t wait to hear about your future projects and exchanging ideas! Good luck!

Awesome, I didn’t notice your date was in July also! I’m July 23rd.

I’ll have to stalk the Ruffled blog and around the web to see if I can find a similar flower that I can try to make. They are so cute and look like they should be easy enough to make. I still have no idea what I’m doing for bouquets. There are just so many awesome ideas that it’s hard to pick one.

Thanks for the reply! I look forward to hearing about your projects!
